Last night marked the first vlog of the summer. Building on last summer's experiments, the Citybuilder vlogs '07 are shaping up to be another summer of increased presence, a look into missionary work and technology that rides the wave of the learning curve.
Last night's broadcast was a combination of talk, interview and Q&A. We highlighted some of the things we've really been 'relearning' as missionaries. Stuff that has new meaning in light of living missionary life, namely Christ as King. And while I don't want to ruin the talk for you who haven't seen it yet, this foundational understanding is necessary for missionary work to make any sense. God created/knows/owns everything/everyone, but in a world that colors authority as a 'necessary evil' God's authority gets glossed over. It isn't just that God has a set of laws and you're good if you just don't break them, GOD has a plan - a specific one. One for each of us. So it isn't just about not doing certain things, but discerning what what He wants to do. And there is a lot in the world He wants changed.

It seemed to me that this quote "GOD has a plan - a specific one. One for each of us." is a bit different than the way we've been talking about God planning almost, if not precisely, as opposed to God having A Plan. The quote there just struck me as having the same kind of fatalism in it that the Divine Plan kind of talk has.
On another topic: nice job last night! it was great to see you and Nick and the other folks on the screen. There is something truly real about seeing people live that is quite exciting.

Good eye on the plan language. Though my hope was to highlight that there was something to do, not just stuff to avoid. As in God isn't just an executive - punishing the law-breakers while rewarding law-abiders. There is a plan in the sense that there is a strategy to change the world, which involves "each one of us."
But as Nick says, it's not what you say it's what they hear that matters. Thanks for the feedback, would you mind if I used as a comment to clarify the post?
